Extreme nerdiness

13Jan11

The Experience Music Project and Science Fiction Museum in Seattle is a weird vanity project by Paul Allen (one of the co-founders of a little company you may have heard of). The building was designed by Frank Gehry, and is pretty enough, if you like curvy things that result in strange interior spaces that must be a bitch to work with when designing exhibitions:

But let’s be honest here. I didn’t go to look at the architecture, or even the admittedly impressive installation of guitars in the main hall.

No. I was there to see Battlestar Galactica: The Exhibition, because I am a giant nerd. I won’t subject you to all of my many photos (and not just because it was really dark in there, so most of them are crap), but here are a couple of highlights:

Cylon raider! With accompanying cylon!

Apollo's viper!

One of Starbuck's "crazy" paintings!

Awesome.

Harry Potter: The Exhibition was also on at the nearby Pacific Science Centre, and it was also awesome. Less awesome was the fact that no photography was allowed inside, so I have no proof of the awesomeness. I will say that Dementors are scary in person.

I wouldn’t have gone for the Battlestar Gallatica Exhibition, but then would have missed out on the amazeballs architecture. So, what does this tell us? That I am worse of for not having watched Battlestar.
